Everyday I Get up to See the Villain Stealing the Show 13

Liu Xiaoqi hesitated, then whispered, “Today, didn’t we go to a few places where the Yin and Yang twins were spotted? I smelled the same scent everywhere we went. I think it’s Magnolia and Amomum Villosum. There might be other herbs, but the scent is so light, so I can’t tell.”

Han Changsheng gave him a look, remembering the sachets Liu Xiaoqi sent him. He didn’t smell anything, but Liu Xiaoqi was more sensitive to scents since he knew how to make incense.

Footsteps echoed inside the corridor, and a disciple of Yuehua Sect appeared on the stairs. Seeing Han Changsheng and Liu Xiaoqi, he was stunned but managed to speak. “Elder martial brother, Liu Xiaoqi.”

Liu Xiaoqi bowed to him with some embarrassment. “Martial brother Wan.”

Han Changsheng glanced at the disciple and frowned. “You are on night duty? Why are you here?”

The disciple with the surname Wan said, “I came to find elder martial brother Huangfu.”

Han Changsheng didn’t say anything, but moved sideways to allow Liu Xiaoqi entry. “Come in and talk.”

Liu Xiaoqi entered the room, and Wan went to see An Yuan. Han Changsheng closed the door, no longer caring about the goings-on next door.

“Are you sure?” Han Changsheng asked.

Liu Xiaoqi nodded. “Elder martial brother, I’ve been sensitive to all kinds of scents since I was young, so I know it was there.”

Han Changsheng asked, “Why didn’t you mention it earlier?”

Liu Xiaoqi stood in silence for a moment, then whispered, “I don’t dare say it.”

With the dog lord nearby, Yue Yu-er didn’t usually bully Liu Xiaoqi. However, Liu Xiaoqi spent the day with Han Changsheng, making Yue Yu-er even more uncomfortable. When Han Changsheng wasn’t paying attention, she bullied Liu Xiaoqi a lot. He was afraid that when he admitted it, he would be ridiculed. He only dared to wait until nightfall to tell Han Changsheng.

Han Changsheng squinted and spoke under his breath, “Magnolia and Amomum. . . What are they used for?”

Liu Xiaoqi’s eyes sparkled as he looked at Han Changsheng, “Elder martial brother, you believe me?”

Han Changsheng said, “Why wouldn’t I believe you?”

Liu Xiaoqi’s eyes sparkled with tears. “I knew that you would believe me, you wouldn’t look down on me like everyone else. Elder martial brother, you’re the best.”

Han Changsheng: “. . .”

Was this guy so easily pleased? Was there any salvation for the Yuehua Sect?

Liu Xiaoqi wiped his eyes and said, “My accomplishments aren’t enough. I can only smell the scent of flowers and Amomum. If I could smell more clearly, I could probably understand what they’re doing with it. I think the smell of medicine is used to suppress how fast blood circulates.”

Han Changsheng frowned. According to Liu Xiaoqi, it was very likely that the Yin and Yang twins used the drugs to limit how often they needed to absorb souls. Despite it, they had already taken three pairs of boys and girls. Was that the result of the suppression? If their need wasn’t suppressed, just how many souls would it take for them to maintain it?

“And. . .” Liu Xiaoqi hesitated. “I smelled the same thing in the inn today.”

Han Changsheng looked at him, then asked, “Where?”

Liu Xiaoqi replied, “In the lobby, when first stepped inside. There were a lot of people there, though, I couldn’t tell which one it was. . .”

Han Changsheng stood up, then strode from the room. “Go, let’s go check the rooms and drag out those two bastards!” His hand curled into a fist. The Yin and Yang twins had been hiding for a year and a half. They wouldn’t hide any longer. He’d seize them and skin them alive, breaking every bone in their bodies along the way.

Liu Xiaoqi followed Han Changsheng, right on his heels. Concern pulsed through his veins. “Elder martial brother, just the two of us? I heard that the Yin and Yang’s martial arts are powerful. . .”

Han Changsheng wasn’t afraid of the pair of devils, so he didn’t care about Liu Xiaoqi’s fears. He grabbed his hand and rushed downstairs.

On the second floor, Liu Xiaoqi said, “It’s near here!”

Han Changsheng stopped and let him sniff at a door.

Nervous, Liu Xiaoqi tiptoed from one room to the next. Finally, he returned to a room and pointed to the door, “The scent is strongest here!”

Han Changsheng flew past him and roundhouse-kicked the door.

The room was empty.

Rushing to the window, Han Changsheng saw two black shadows slipping out of sight with children in tow.

“Motherfuckers!” Han Changsheng screamed, jumping from the window and chasing after the shadows, “Stop!”

The Yin and Yang twins looked back, then ran faster.

Han Changsheng rushed to catch up with them. His leg work was among the best in the Tianning Cult. He was taught the same kung fu that was taught and practiced for many years. The Yin and Yang twins were fast, despite carrying two children. How could they move so quickly? Before they ran even two streets ahead, he already caught up to them.

Han Changsheng wasted no time pulling out his sword and slashing it across Yin’s back. As soon as he heard Han Changsheng approach, he threw the child from his arms and drew his sword. Yang wasn’t far behind, tossing the child she held and running over to help.

Yin and Yang were exactly like the rumors, their bodies were horrifically colored blue and purple. They were like corpses, sickly and poisoned. Their only antidote was the souls of boys and girls.

Han Changsheng stabbed at them again, and the Yin and Yang twins discarded the children and acted as one. It was easy for them to parry his sword.

“It’s you!” Han Changsheng’s eyes widened in shock.

The Yin and Yang twins were the same two people he saw the inn’s lobby that day, they were the couple who said they lost their children to the Yin and Yang twins! The children at the roadside belonged to two of the couples who came to comfort them. The children were dazed and still sat on the street. The boy raised his arm with some difficulty, then let it drop.

Yang glanced at Yin and said, “You take the child, I’ll handle this guy and then catch up!”

Yin didn’t move, only squinted at Han Changsheng. He sneered, “Yueyang Town sent Yuehua Sect disciples, daring to stop us on our path. If you don’t teach him a lesson, he’ll be meeting his ancestors!”

Yueyang town was Yuehua Sect’s territory. Yin and Yang only dared to show up because they didn’t see the Yuehua Sect as a threat. They only managed to be among the top ten swordsmen because their seven-star sword array was famous, leaving countless heroes to return in defeat. The seven-star sword array required seven people to work together. If it was implemented, dozens of people could be trapped on the battlefield. In their ability to fight alone, though, the Yuehua Sect was scarcely remarkable. However, the Yin and Yang devils were wanted in the Wulin. If merely the Yuehua Sect sent disciples after them, they wouldn’t need to fight.

Yang listened to Yin and nodded. “Okay, suck his strength and let him know what it means to pry!”

Han Changsheng sneered, “Laozi will let you dogs taste the ancestral swordsmanship!”

Yin and Yang, one from the left and one from the right, flew towards Han Changsheng. One attacked from above, the other from below. It was the most common martial art they used. They seemed to move at the same time, but there was a slight difference. Yin was faster, stabbing forward so the opponent would have to dodge. Yang then had the time to decide what move to make according to how their opponent dodged the attack. The method they practiced was incomparable to almost any other tactic. How many masters in the Wulin were struck down due to a single attack? Because of their carelessness, they would be defeated.

Yin slammed into Han Changsheng, forcing him back due to his tendency to retreat. Yang took the opportunity to stab his leg, and, full of confidence, he knelt.

Yin leaped to the air as Yang slashed downwards. While her sword swung, an ankle hit her face, throwing her back.

Yang fell flat on her back, a black footprint imprinted on her blue-green face. Slowly, her nose started to bleed.

“Hey!” Han Changsheng stood back on his feet and smiled. “Do you dare to come take on me, with such lowly skills as that?!”

Although Han Changsheng’s kung fu following the Tianning’s teaching wasn’t good, in the Wulin, he was considered a master. Because he left the cult, he was often chased by the Tianning members. To escape, he was very skilled in dodging. Once, ten members rushed him together. He was forced to flee. Yin and Yang were weak to him.

Yin rushed over to Yang, looking suspiciously at Han Changsheng. They underestimated him. They thought the guy who was good enough to land a hit wouldn’t have made them suffer such a loss.

Han Changsheng waited for them to adjust their state, he slashed his sword across Yang’s heart. She was moving quickly, not yet stable. In the same moment, Yin reached for his sword. They struggled before Yang managed to slow herself and join the battle.

The three of them fought at ends, two against one. They passed ten strokes, leaving each other shocked. Han Changsheng thought he could win on his own strength, that the Yin and Yang twins weren’t so powerful. He didn’t expect that giving all his efforts, he might not be able to take even one of them. Their strength almost matched his. If their swords collided, he might be able to take them. His moves and speed was more flexible than theirs, but they were comparable.

In turn, Yin and Yang Sha were more and more shocked. Han Changsheng was an ordinary little disciple. However, he was quick to change his strategy. His slashes were fast, and he had the style of a master! What’s more, his swordsmanship wasn’t taught by the Yuehua Sect!

“What the hell are you?!” Yang said, anxious and angry as she sped up the offensive. She only fought with him because she thought it would be a quick fight. She and Yin were running out of time. Their need for souls would overpower them if they waited much longer!

Gasping, Yin said, “You are not a disciple of Yuehua!”

Han Changsheng fought until he was covered with sweat, but his mouth was not forgiving. He sneered, “You should call me master. . .”

“Elder martial brother!” A figure ran over, with An Yuan’s voice filling the air. A moment later, he ran to them. His sword drawn, he shouted, “I will help you!”

I noticed you translate jianghu as “rivers and lakes” multiple times…it’s really not what it means. It means society of martial artists or the pugilisticworld…
