The Yu Family

Yu Rongfeng [喻荣丰] – Deceased. MC’s grandfather. He had a Taoist name, Qing Xu [清虚].


Yu Jincheng [喻锦成] – Yu Zhen’s father and adopted son of Yu Rongfeng. He first appeared in an illusion/vision. He goes by a new name, Zou Chengjing[邹城景].

Lin Zouwei [林邹伟] – MC’s half brother via Yu Jincheng.

Wang Shu [汪舒] – Likely to be Yu Zhen’s mother. She appeared in an illusion.

Yu Zhen [喻臻] – The MC.  Probably the son of Yu Jincheng and Wang Shu.

Xin Xiaoxiao [辛小小] – Yu Zhen’s ghost attendant. Think of her as a familiar. She was a model and had a child with Qiu Junwen.

San’er [三儿] – Yu Zhen’s ghost attendant. Think of him as a familiar. He was Qiu Xiehua’s illigitimate third born, and he was used as a sacrifice to boost the Qiu family’s future prosperity.

The Yin Family 

Yin Hexiang [殷禾祥] – Yin Yan’s father. 

Qiu Feiqian [仇飞倩] – Yin Yan’s mother.

Yin Yan [殷炎] – Deceased. Passed away in his 20s. 

“Yin Yan” – ML. His real name is unknown. Currently occupies Yin Yan’s body.

Xu Wu [虚无] – The manifested spirit of ML’s mustard space. It has the appearance of a white kitten. His name means ‘Nothingness’.

Yin Le [殷乐] – Younger brother of Yin Yan. 17 years old. 

Yin Family Employees

Weng Xiping [翁西平] – The Yin family’s head of staff. Worker extraordinaire who oversees lots of business stuff as well as sometimes acting as a butler and driver. In his 30s. 

Hu Ma [胡妈] – The head cook in the Yin residence. In her 50s. 

Lao He [老贺] – A chauffer of the Yin family.

Xiao Zhang [小张] – A chauffer of the Yin family.


Zhou Wei [周伟] – A middle aged worker at the Yin family’s company. He didn’t like the ‘PDA’ between Yu Zhen and Yin Yan.

Cao Xingdong [曹兴东] – An alumni of the same university as Yu Zhen. He is currently an intern at the Yin family’s company. 

Chi Nan [池南] – A worker for the Yin family. He was in charge of the leisure centre project until it was taken over by Yin Yan.

Jin Kai [金凯] – Yin Hexiang’s assistant.

The Qiu Family

Qiu Xiehua [仇谢华] – The ‘head of house’. Father to four children, including Qiu Feiqian who is the third child. He had two wives. 


Qiu Feixiong [仇飞雄] – Oldest of the four Qiu siblings. Born from the first wife of Old Master Qiu.

Si Ling [司龄] – Wife of Qiu Feixiong.

Qiu Junwen [仇君文] – Oldest son of Qiu Feixiong and Si Ling.

 Qiu Ruijie [仇瑞杰] – Son of Qiu Junwen and Xin Xiaoxiao.

Qiu Junhua [仇君华] – Youngest son of Qiu Feixiong and Si Ling.


Qiu Feijun [仇飞俊] – Second oldest of the four Qiu siblings. Also born from the first wife of Old Master Qiu. 

Ye Mei [叶梅] – Wife of Qiu Feijun.

Qiu Junhao [仇君浩] – Son of QiuFeijun and Ye Mei. 

Qiu Junshu  [仇君淑 ] – Daughter of Qiu Feijun and Ye Mei.


Qiu Feiting [仇飞婷] – Youngest of the four Qiu Siblings. Born from the same mother as Qiu Feiqian, the second wife of Old Master Qiu. She has a husband and a son.

The Business Circle

Han Ya [韩雅] – Cannon fodder female love interest. From a wealthy family. Was pursued by the original Yin Yan, but is more or less Wu Xuan’s girlfriend.


Wu Xuan [伍轩] – Han Ya’s boyfriend. From a rich and well regarded family.

Wu Ping [伍平] – Wu Xuan’s older brother.

Wu Feng [伍风] – Wu Xuan’s cousin. He leads the younger generation in the Wu family.


Bu Chen [步辰] – Yin Yan’s friend from childhood to the present time in the story.

Bu Lian [步莲] – Bu Chen’s sister.


Fu Wenhua [付文华] – Yin Yan’s roommate from university.

Shi Yanhao [史岩浩] – Yin Yan’s senior from university.

Xiao Shiyang [肖世阳] – Yin Yan’s classmate from university.  Ai Rui’s boyfriend.

Ai Rui [艾蕊] – A friend from university. Xiao Shiyang’s girlfriend.


Wen Yi [温艺] – School classmates with Yin Yan. Currently a businessman.

Cultivators

Feng Yuan [丰原] – A Taoist cultivator. He is a respected leader figure for a group of Taoists. 

Feng Lin [丰林] – Feng Yuan’s silly and untalented-in-cultivation grandson.

Bo Xiu [博修] – A middle aged cultivator in the same group as Feng Yuan. 

Shi Qingyuan [释清元] – A young buddhist cultivator. First appeared when Han Ya made a fool of herself.

Minor Characters

Old Huang [老黄] – Head of Lotus Village.

Uncle Li [李二爷] – Deceased. A friendly old man from Lotus Village.

Tian Yuan [田远] – Owner of a plant nursery. He sold the plant nursery to Yu Zhen.

Fang Yun [方云] – Wife of Tian Yuan.

Tian Xiaojie [田晓杰] – Son of Tian Yuan and Fang Yun.

                                                                                                                      

Common Terms of Address in TRAS

Ge = ‘older brother’. Form: [Name]+[Ge]. 

Ma = ‘mother’. Form: [Name]+[Ma].

Mei = ‘younger sister’. Form: [Name]+[Mei].

Meaningful Names

Authors have a tendency to use names which are meaningful for their characters. It’s the same with Chinese authors. In this section, the possible meanings for some characters’ names will be provided. This is mostly speculation, but some connections can be made with certain names and the characters to which they belong.

Some ‘words’ used have a lot of possible meanings, but only some interesting or relevant meanings will be listed. 

Yu Rong Feng [喻荣丰]

  • 喻 = The surname Yu
  • 荣 = glory/honor/thriving
  • 丰 = abundant/plentiful/great

Yu Zhen        [喻臻]

  • 喻 = The surname Yu
  • 臻 = to reach(especially for perfection)

Yin Hexiang [殷禾祥]

  • 殷 = The surname Yin/flourishing/abundant/earnest/hospitable/roll of thunder
  • 祥 = auspicious/propitious

Qiu Feiqian [仇飞倩]

  • 仇 = The surname Qiu/spouse/companion/enmity/hatred/foe
  • 飞 = fly
  • 倩 = pretty/to ask for someone’s help

Yin Yan          [殷炎]

  • 殷 = The surname Yin/flourishing/abundant/earnest/hospitable/roll of thunder
  • 炎 = flame

Xu Wu          [虚无]

  • 虚无 = nothingness
  • 虚 = emptiness/void/virtual/theory or guiding principle
  • 无 = none/to lack
