I Trick Even the Lames to Stand Up for Me 020

If you force my hand, I’ll just summon some souls

Seeing Gu Sen’s face, Zhao PengYu no longer acted presumptuous. Taking off his sunglasses, he got out of the car, and seeing that Gu Sen has similar features to Gu Ye, he said, “Are you Gu Ye’s brother? I’m his classmate. I came to play with him. Brother, is Gu Ye home?”

Gu Sen considered him for a moment, and Zhao PengYu felt as if even his soul was being stared at. He inexplicably felt that he was like a bad guy who’d brought this man’s brother down the wrong path.

Gu Sen couldn’t be bothered to pick a fight with a child. “It’s Gu Ye’s house, yes, but there’s no ‘Master’ here.”

“Haha, I was joking. Gu Ye’s nickname at school is Master Gu.” Zhao PengYu laughed awkwardly. He had to create another excuse to invite Gu Ye to his house next time as Gu Ye’s family seemed to be averse to this kind of thing.

Gu Sen took another close look at Zhao PengYu, and after making sure that he didn’t seem like a bad guy, he asked the security guards to inform Gu Ye.

After Gu Ye came out, Zhao PengYu complained with fear, “Your eldest brother is terrible. I feel like I’m some bratty rich second generation.”

Gu Ye looked at the sports car his friend drove and said in a profound manner, “You sure don’t look like a rich second generation but like someone with a sugar mommy.”

“Oh, come on! Will you get sick if you don’t kick me down for a day?!” Zhao PengYu opened the car door and pushed Gu Ye in. “One day, I will definitely abduct and sell you!”

Gu Ye leaned lazily on the seat. His tone was like reading a textbook, completely emotionless, yet it was somehow very irritating to hear. “Ah, help, kidnapping and trafficking. This thug is beating me up, my bone is fractured, ah…”

Zhao PengYu hissed. “Dad, please shut up!”

Gu Ye narrowed his eyes before saying, “Okay, big boy!”

Zhao PengYu just wanted to beat the guy. How on earth were they friends? Not even a minute after meeting him, Zhao PengYu wanted to strangle him!

Seeing that Zhao PengYu was the one driving, Gu Ye was not at ease, so he asked, “Do you have a driver’s license?”

Zhao PengYu answered haughtily, “Of course. I took the exam when I turned 18.”

Gu Ye pinched his fingers for a divination and seeing that they would not be in a traffic accident today, he said, “Alright then, you can drive.”

Zhao PengYu felt as if he were being stifled. People, this is how it feels to have a friend who can do divination!

After arriving at the Zhao family house, Zhao PengYu’s parents welcomed Gu Ye very warmly. They served several plates of fruits and snacks. It didn’t appear like they were inviting Gu Ye to observe the Feng Shui of their home, but more like they were inviting Gu Ye there just for a visit.

Gu Ye was a bit embarrassed by this. “Let’s take a look at the Feng Shui first.”

“Yes.” Zhao PengYu’s father stood up and said, “Uncle will take you there. Your auntie will prepare the lunch, so please stay here for a meal. PengYu, follow along, take good care of your friend.”

Zhao PengYu inexplicably felt that Gu Ye was his parents’ actual child instead. He, on the other hand, was a free gift his parents got when they paid their phone bill.

Gu Ye observed the Zhao Family’s house and said, “Your family must have invited a capable Feng Shui master when building this house. There’s nothing to change here as far as I can see. However, I do have a suggestion. In Feng Shui, it is believed that having a tree in the northwest area is good as it represents the beginning of everything. But the tree must not be taller than the building or the sons of the family will be prone to accidents. That tree should have been short when it was planted, but now it is taller than the house.”

When he thought back on it, Zhao ZhiFeng remembered that it was indeed the case. Back when the villa was built, his father-in-law asked a master for advice. That Feng Shui master had said that the tree should not be taller than the house, but after so many years, these words were forgotten as he didn’t believe in these kinds of things. Now that Gu Ye mentioned it, his memory came back and made the connection to Zhao PengYu’s accident. He wondered if what happened to his son was related to the tree.

With determination as a father, Zhao ZhiFeng immediately called the housekeeper. “Find someone to replace the tree with a smaller one. Now.”

Gu Ye chuckled. “There’s no hurry. Just change it when you’re free. You and Auntie often do good deeds, you’re both blessed. Sometimes it’s better to believe in yourself rather than fate. People who do good deeds will never have a bad life.”

“Good, good, good. Uncle will remember that.” Zhao ZhiFeng happily took a bank card he had prepared beforehand from his pocket and said, “This is one million yuan for looking at the Feng Shui of our house. I can feel at ease now that you’ve seen the Feng Shui of our house. I’ve enquired about your line of work and heard that there’s a rule. It is said that, generally, if the customer is destitute or they’re about to die, the master won’t receive a penny. I don’t know much about this, but anyway, I will pay you according to the market price.”

Gu Ye narrowed his eyes. This price is for a first-class master, but then again, it is fitting.

Three fortune tellers’ rule: charge the rich more, charge the poor less, but never not charge.

Three special circumstances for not charging: not receiving money from the dead, it’s exactly as it said on the tin. Second is: not charging those with unavoidable calamity, because they wouldn’t be able to escape death even if you advised them on the matter. Third: not charging those at the end of their luck. This was because they were heading to their decline, and you would lose your virtue if you received their money.

Gu Ye, however, didn’t follow the rules. When he was in a good mood, he would accept some requests if he wanted to. And likewise, he would deny them when he didn’t want to. When he made money, he would donate it to charity organizations. He basically paid the fine for leaking the secrets of Heaven with merits and virtues.

So Gu Ye didn’t refuse and said with a smile, “Thank you very much, Uncle Zhao.”

For lunch, Gu Ye had no choice but to stay at the Zhao’s. It could be seen that the couple didn’t want to owe favors. Gu Ye didn’t take any money when saving Zhao PengYu back then. If he didn’t eat this meal, they would be at a loss on how to repay him in the future. So, Gu Ye was very stuffed for lunch.

Zhao PengYu was jealous. “I suspect you’re my mother’s actual son.”

Gu Ye narrowed his eyes before replying, “Don’t worry. I’ll give you a good tutoring later, and when your grade raises, Auntie will treat me even better.”

Zhao PengYu was at a loss for words. He thought Gu Ye would say that his mother actually loved him, but no, he said his mother would love Gu Ye even more. This guy never plays cards according to common sense. He really wanted to shout “Can someone please teach this goblin a lesson?!”

Zhao PengYu wanted to leave after sending Gu Ye home, but the latter pulled his side of the door open before placing his hand on Zhao PengYu’s shoulder and said with a serious expression, “Bro, don’t go. My big brothers came back and they gave me a lot of gifts. I can’t possibly use them all, so take some with you.”

Zhao PengYu felt embarrassed. It turned out Gu Ye still had a conscience.

After a while, two servants came out carrying a box and put it inside Zhao PengYu’s car. “Mr. Zhao, the third young master said to open them once you’re home.”

Seeing that the box was big and heavy, Zhao PengYu hummed happily, thinking that there must be a lot of good stuff in it. After returning home, he could no longer wait.   The moment he opened the box up, 《Mathematics and Chemistry Cram Set for Dummies》, 《Five Years of College Entrance Examination and Three Years Simulation》and the likes immediately pounced into his sight. There was no need to look at the others. Zhao PengYu’s face turned green with anger. “If I ever fall to Gu Ye’s tricks again, I will eat shit and die!”

His mother, who was about to go to the company, heard his shout and was shocked before retorting, “You’re sick, ah?! What a disgusting way to go!”

Zhao PengYu withered and covered his face. There’s nothing left to live for.jpg.

Gu Ye took a nap in the afternoon after returning home. When he woke up in the evening, he saw Gu Sen sitting at the bar counter and looking at the “Intended College Application Form” he’d brought back.

Gu Ye went over and poured himself a glass of ice water. While he was drinking, Gu Sen suddenly asked, “I heard you’re doing fortune telling recently?”

Hearing the heavy tone, Gu Ye gulped before cleverly answering with “Ah, just for fun. My duty as a student is to study.”

Looking at his face, Gu Sen surmised that he wasn’t in his chuunibyou phase, so Gu Sen’s expression relaxed slightly. “What are your thoughts on university?”

Gu Ye found a stool to sit on and acted like a well-behaved child. “Just any one in the capital.”

Gu Sen frowned. “There are better options abroad.”

Gu Ye took a bite of ice and munched on it. “Nope.”

 “Reason.”

“I can’t get used to the food there.”

Gu Ye’s serious expression almost enraged Gu Sen. What kind of ridiculous reason was this? Yet, it made too much sense.

“I can buy you a house, hire a Chinese housekeeper, and even a maid if you want.” Gu Sen felt that Gu Ye was still young and didn’t have a concrete plan for his future, so he tried to reason with his little brother.

Gu Ye shook his head and said seriously, “Brother, I’m living a good life here. I can go home four times a month, and if there are five Sundays in that month, I can go home five times!” Gu Ye solemnly gestured with five fingers and put forward his supporting arguments. “I can come back and see Dad, eat Mom’s beef noodles and watch our stupid little brother. Someone can help me with the laundry, I can take a lot of snacks with me when I leave, I can save a lot of money.”

Gu Sen’s brain was full of buzzing noise. Hearing Gu Ye’s words, it sounded reasonable at first, but when one really listens, those reasons were all shitty reasons. It gave Gu Sen a headache. Big Brother Gu Sen took a deep breath to calm himself down before saying, “Go to study abroad with me. You can live with me, and I will try my best to meet your requirements.”

Gu Ye wasn’t anxious and he said the biggest reason for not going, “Brother, I’ll miss home, and I’ll miss Mom and Dad.”

Gu Sen was at a loss for words. I can’t use words to persuade this kid!

“Still clinging to Mom and Dad? How old are you?”

Gu Ye put down the glass and went out of the strike zone as he saw Gu Sen’s expression grow darker. “There’s no way around it, I’m still young after all.” After saying this, he lifted his long legs and “whooshed” his way out of there.

Gu Sen rubbed his forehead. He now understood why their father didn’t want to do this and instead delegated this role to him. He had a migraine now.

Gu Lin was leaning on the handrail on the second floor, watching the show with one hand supporting his chin. He couldn’t help but laughed when he saw what happened. “Dad is afraid that he will be punished by God because of his fortune telling. That’s why he wanted you to take Lao San abroad, but now that the kid is obviously unwilling, how are you going to drag him abroad?”

Thinking of their father’s temper, Gu Sen felt that this was likely the case.

Gu Lin then said with a smile, “If you force him, are you not afraid he will summon our mother’s soul?”

 Gu Sen: “…”

After Gu Ye returned to his room, he took out the spare college application form his teacher gave and quickly filled the three options with: The Capital’s First University! The Capital’s First University! The Capital’s First University!

Gu Ye still wasn’t at ease even with this. With his father’s strong temper, that old man might modify his college application form or even directly tie him up and put him on a plane. His eldest brother had teamed up with their father, and it was not known which side his second brother was on. Who else in this family could he count on…Aha!

Hiding the college application form, Gu Ye went downstairs and his mind was full of: Hehehe.

    ————

At the same time in Zhao PengYu’s house, his mother was speaking to her friend. “The Little Master has returned. There’s always something happening with your family lately and you also said it’s a bit evil. Do you want the Little Master to take a look?”

Mrs. Zhao never expected that her recommendation would once again uncover the dark side of human nature and subsequently save the life of her friend’s whole family of four.
