Everyday I Get up to See the Villain Stealing the Show 84

Lu Honghua was over fifty years old that year and had been the leader of the Wulin for nearly ten years. Although the Wulin didn’t stipulate how long a Wulin Alliance leader could rule, generally speaking, each leader lasted ten years. Although Lu Honghua was old and still had prestige, his physique wasn’t as good as that of younger people. There were many talented people in the world and countless successors who had the means and skill. He finally decided to give up on his position as the leader of the Wulin.

The crowd in the entire venue was instantly boiling. Many people called for the sixth alliance leader to continue to lead the people and to preside over the martial arts events, but few were sincere. Who didn’t want to become the leader of the Wulin Alliance? If they delayed for a few more years and more capable people emerged, they would have no chance at all.

Han Changsheng and An Yuan also stopped and looked at the stage. This was not a trivial matter. Han Changsheng wasn’t interested in the Wulin’s justice, but he wanted to hear what Lu Honghua’s plans were.

“Quiet, quiet, gentlemen, please listen to me!”  Lu Honghua said repeatedly before the crowd finally quieted down.

“I’m old, it’s time to let this seat go. However, since I am in office, I am responsible for the Wulin Alliance. In the past two years, you have provided me with many candidates to serve as my successors, but I have not yet selected one. I have observed for a long time that all of you are capable and affectionate. There are more than a few people that are better than Mr. Lu Honghua. Over the past ten years, the Wulin Alliance has achieved nothing through Lu Honghua’s hands. Therefore, Lu Honghua feels that he should choose a successor differently and choose someone that can lead the Wulin’s progress…”

Another uproar broke out below the stage!

Those who had suffered for several years and thought they would have to endure went almost crazy. Other helpless people or young children were eager to try for the role and waited for the pie from the sky to fall right into their laps.

Han Changsheng and An Yuan grew more interested and turned to carefully listen to what Lu Honghua had to say.

Lu Honghua called for silence a few more times, then said, “In the past, the new Wulin Alliance leaders were selected by their colleagues, then the former leader selected the most suitable candidate to succeed. I will not do that now. Of course, my successor must have outstanding martial arts skills, a certain reputation in the nation, and outstanding moral conduct. That’s all necessary. Second, he needs to meet several conditions——first, he needs to get the approval of the old man Beihu, Jiu Xian Feng Lai Ren, and Hua Yue Niang. He must bring back their tokens as evidence.”

The people beneath the stage gradually quieted. Old man Beihu was the former leader of the Wulin. He had outstanding martial arts and was highly respected. However, he had a bad temper and was too straightforward in his manner of speaking and acting, so he often offended others. He had worked for less than two years and was tired of it, so he resigned from his post to practice in seclusion. Although the old man Beihu had a bad temper, he was absolutely a good man. The person he liked must have an excellent character.

The man Jiu Xian Feng Lai Ren was also a hermit. It was said he had excellent martial arts, but he was also an alcoholic and a sword maniac. Those who he admired had to be absolutely excellent at martial arts.

As for Hua Yue Niang, she was both a woman and a hermit. It was unclear what her specializations and her preferences were. However, when Lu Honghua arranged, she must have been preparing to investigate different aspects of his successor. The old man Beihu inspected virtue and conduct, Jiu Xian Feng investigated martial arts, and so naturally, Hua Yue Niang had to have her use.

Then, Lu Honghua said, “Next, because I hope the Wulin will make outstanding achievements this year, the newly elected leader can’t be a mediocre person like me. Therefore, the next condition is that within one year, he must get rid of a villain or a gang who commits evil in the nation!”

The crowd took a deep breath. Lu Honghua’s demands were really high. There were many villains in the nation, but some sects wouldn’t offend them or even collude with them in the dark to preserve their strength. As soon as the condition was met, the arrogant villains would be severely attacked, and everyone would fight to punish the evil and promote the good.

Then, Lu Honghua said, “If you meet those conditions, you will be qualified to be the next leader of the Wulin. However, Lu Honghua dares to make a rule here. The future leader of the Wulin must take it as his duty to eliminate the demons and defend Taoism. If he can’t shake the demonic cult within three years, he will be replaced!”

Silence swept over the crowd for a moment, then the noise exploded once more. The demonic cult had been a disaster to the Wulin for nearly a hundred years. Its power was intertwined, it wasn’t easy to shake them. Lu Honghua used such a radical method to force everyone to eradicate the demonic sect as soon as possible.

Han Changsheng clenched his fist and took a deep breath. He had to resist the impulse of throwing a shoe onstage and hitting Lu Honghua’s face.

An Yuan noticed the people around him acting abnormally. Looking down, he saw Han Changsheng’s clenched fist. Surprised, he glanced up at him.

Lu Honghua said, “I want to say so many things today, one year is such a short time. Next year, on this day, we will gather on Kunlun Mountain again and I will pass on the position of the alliance leader to that hero!”

“Alliance leader, this is not right!” The first disciple of the Cangshan Sect jumped up. The leader of the Cangshan Sect, his master, was originally one candidate for the next leader of the Wulin. His voice was very loud. If his leader could become the leader of the Wulin, it would be a good thing for everyone. Their Cangshan Sect wouldn’t be far from success. However, with Lu Honghua’s arrangement, the matter would be suspended. The leader of the Cangshan Sect was too embarrassed to come out and speak for himself, so his first disciple immediately spoke up, “Leader, the first condition is the identification of the three elders, but the three elders must have their own preferences. Is this unfair?”

“What’s unfair?” Another elder of the Hengshan Sect jumped up and said, “Are you suspicious of the three elders?” Although the leader of the Hengshan Sect was also one candidate for the next leader, he couldn’t compete with someone like the leader of the Cangshan Sect. Lu Honghua’s decision was beneficial to them.

The disciples of the Cangshan Sect were speechless for a moment. Those three elders were all famous and influential people in the nation. It wasn’t easy to say such things.

A group of people started to chatter, with some supporting and others opposing. Some asked for Lu Honghua to continue to be the leader of the Wulin alliance.

Han Changsheng was overjoyed at the three demands. He’d robbed An Yuan of all his opportunities by mistake and was worried about how to return his fate. But, Lu Honghua’s requirements were simply for his sake, and he didn’t require an age or a school of the successor. As long as he could help An Yuan complete the requirements, he could help him ascend to the position of the leader of the Wulin next year!

An Yuan didn’t have any thoughts about the ordeal. He never thought about becoming the leader of the Wulin. After all, he was only in his early twenties, and he’d just discovered his father’s murderer. His future was still very confusing. At present, he hadn’t even decided where to go after the Wulin Assembly.

When the year’s Wulin Assembly officially ended, Lu Honghua left and people still stood around, arguing. Han Changsheng and An Yuan went back to the inn, where they settled down. Then, Han Changsheng asked, “Brother Huangfu, what are your next plans?”

“What are yours?” An Yuan asked. Although he’d been ill those days, he had long suspected Du Fengliu. The man claimed to be a miracle doctor, but he turned the injury and fever into a serious illness. He made him peel off a layer of skin. And he didn’t understand why Du Fengliu wanted to save him and why he had to wait on him. If he was a doctor, and his duty was to cure patients, why didn’t Du Fengliu look at the person in their inn who had been injured in the challenge arena two days earlier? Why did he just look after him?

My fake big brother seems to be very good at disguises…

Stunned, Han Changsheng said, “Me? I… When the Wulin Conference is over, it will be time for me to go.”

An Yuan narrowed his eyes and said, “Do I dare ask Brother Du what sect he’s from? Are you planning to return to your master?”

Han Changsheng hesitated for a moment. “I… Well, I want to go back to my school. My school is… You’d better not know.”

An Yuan raised his eyebrows. “Why? What can’t be revealed about your school… Are you a member of the demonic cult?”

Han Changsheng scratched his hair. “I have a fearsome big brother. He doesn’t allow me to associate with other people. I saved you for your good looks. Now, you are almost alright. The Wulin Conference is over. I should go back.”

An Yuan was stunned. Fearful big brother… He moved his lips but said nothing. He just stared at Han Changsheng.

Han Changsheng said, “In all the work I did saving you and taking care of you for so many days, shouldn’t you repay me?”

An Yuan was stunned again. Was… was he wrong? This Du Fengliu was close to his own goal, was there any other plan? He asked, “What do you want?”

Han Changsheng said, “The situation in the nation could be changed. One day, we may become enemies. If one day, you… You will know how to repay me.”

An Yuan frowned and said, “You… Who are you? If you are a good man, how can we be enemies one day?”

Puffing up his chest, Han Changsheng said, “Of course I am a good man. The people I have saved are worth more than all the salt you’ve eaten… However, there will always be a day when things are uncertain. Remember what I said and how much you owe me.”

It completely confused An Yuan. He’d heard similar words before. “Hua Xiaosa” said that before, and he was a member of the demonic cult. Was Du Fengliu also a member? Even if there was a day when he was the enemy of the demonic cult, why did he stare at him?

If you want the enemy to hold your hand high, you should go find Lu Honghua or the other leaders. Now I’m just a young disciple. What the hell is going on here?

Han Changsheng spoke, then took up his luggage and said, “It’s time for me to go down the mountain. Mr. Huangfu. I’ll see you again later.” Then he pushed the door open.

An Yuan called, “Wait a minute, can you explain your words…”

However, Han Changsheng ignored him entirely and immediately went downstairs. An Yuan chased him out, but his body hadn’t fully recovered. He couldn’t keep up with Han Changsheng’s pace at all, and soon he was gone without a trace.

An yuan stood frozen in the middle of the road for a long time, but like a three-meter tall monk, you couldn’t rub his head. After a long time, he could only turn back inside in a daze.

I get a very, very bad feeling about the whole thing already. Especially with the comments from this chapter >.>   ‘I´m old and it´s time to let this seat go’ – do you mean ‘I can´t hold onto this power anymore, because I got too weak and I´d rather not lose my face, because someone fought me over this’? ‘Capable and affectionate’? What? How did you get that? Who are you talking about? Affectionate? Are you talking about their girlfriends??   …. I get a really bad feeling …   ‘Other helpless people or young children were eager to… Read more »
