“Uncle Ali, you will know what it is used for once it is built.” Ka Luo, who also did not understand, said. They did not understand a lot of things Chen Qi did when he first started to do them. However, they end up easily understanding them after Chen Qi made it. Therefore, Ka Luo’s first reaction to whatever Chen Qi would do was to let him finish it first before discussing further.

After thinking about it for a moment, Ali also picked out a wooden plank to join the snow shoveling party.

The width of the wall was a full half a meter, which naturally required a lot of snow to be gathered. These two days of snowfall was only half a foot deep. Even after all the snow around the house was cleared and shoveled to designated areas, only a short knee-high prototype was built.

Because of the snow, Aze no longer needed to fetch water from the Chishui River these two days. Chen Qi melted some of the snow and sprinkled the water over the wall prototype. The wall, which was not tall to begin with, became somewhat shorter.

Although it didn’t look like there was much snow in the places marked out by Chen Qi, it really took a lot of time to do all of it. The three men were busy until the afternoon to roughly encircle the space with the wall. Ka Luo’s stomach was already growling with hunger. As soon as the work was finished, Chen Qi taught them how to fry the meatballs.

Chen Qi had used a lot of oil cooking yesterday’s dishes. Naturally, he didn’t want to deep fry more food today, so he asked Ali to help mince half a dish of cured meat and chop up some cabbage with the dragon-horn knife. Then he cut open a rice berry, poured in some of the juice and mixed in some salt, then molded the processed cabbage and meat paste into thin cakes. He then added oil into a hot pottery dish and fried the prepared patties in it. When both sides  turned golden brown, Chen Qi set the first batch of the finished product into a ceramic bowl and handed it to the two people who had already had to swallow down their saliva because of the fragrance.

Ka Luo handed a spoon to Ali before not hesitating to scoop a large spoonful for himself. The crispiness was much better than those already cold ones Ake had brought back yesterday. “Chen Qi, it’s very delicious.” Ka Luo’s mouth was full of food and his praise came out mumbled.

“Come and try to make it yourself.” Chen Qi handed Ka Luo the wooden spatula in his hand.

Ka Luo quickly swallowed the food in his mouth, straightened his face, recalled the steps Chen Qi had done just now, and fried a few of them under Chen Qi’s guidance. Unfortunately, this novice did not control the heat very well on his first try, and all of them were burnt.

Ka Luo took a bite of one of his fried patties. It had a mushy texture. He frowned with a little disdain at his own craft.

The results of his second batch were much better, at least not all of them were burnt. Although it was not as good as Chen Qi’s, Ka Luo was already very satisfied. His mind had already begun to plan to make some to celebrate Ake’s return from hunting the hydrochoerus dragons. Ake would be surprised.

Ali also fried a batch. After several demonstrations from the other two, Ali had already mostly mastered the process, and his first batch was similar to that of Chen Qi’s.

“Why is it that the same thing is made by different people yet the result is so different?” Ka Luo shoved one of Ali’s freshly fried patties into his mouth and could not help muttering.

“You will do better than Ali after you practice it some more.” Chen Qi patted Ka Luo on the shoulder comfortingly.

So, in order to let Ka Luo practice more, everyone ate some not-very-delicious burnt cabbage and meat patties for lunch.

In the afternoon, it started to snow again. This time, there was a lot less snow, but it lasted longer. It didn’t stop until the next morning. After the three of them had finished the not-very-delicious lunch, Ali asked Chen Qi to teach him how to make shirts.
