Everyday I Get up to See the Villain Stealing the Show 107
by Empress · April 15, 2021
Before Luo Xin and Du Yuefei were ready to go down the mountain, Hua Xiaoshuang called them to his residence and threw a letter on the table. “Look for yourselves.”
Gu Mingxiao took the lead in unfolding the letter written by Han Changsheng. His expression changed from curiosity to surprise to contemplation.
Hua Xiaoshuang said, “Be careful when you read it, don’t leave any traces. I’ll put the letter back later. Don’t let the leader discover that it has been read.”
The letter was passed down one by one, and soon Luo Xin and Du Yuefei finished reading it. Incredulously, Du Yuefei said, “The leader colluded with the right way of the Wulin?” That sounded bizarre. The word “collusion” was often followed by villains and demons, but out of the mouth of someone from a demonic cult, naturally, it was only connected to the right way of the Wulin.
Luo Xin’s expression was solemn, his brows folded in such an extreme way, it could kill a fly.
The letter was written by Han Changsheng, to Lu Honghua.
“The demonic cult has committed many evils. If they are not eliminated in one day, the nation will never be peaceful. I have long been disgusted with the demonic cult and I am willing to cooperate with all you chivalrous people to wipe them out, to help the whole world, and take part in the grand organization that is the Wulin.”
The letter included a topographic map of the Tianning Cult, with its defenses marked out. If the leader of the Wulin were to get ahold of the map, it would be easy for them to attack the Tianning Cult.
Seeing that everyone had finished reading the letter, Hua Xiaoshuang coldly said, “It seems that the temptation of becoming the Wulin Alliance leader is too strong. The leader is going to treat the Tianning Cult as a sacrifice.”
Gu Mingxiao did not speak, just covered his chest. It hurt badly there.
Luo Xin stood like a wooden stake. His lips moved, but he didn’t speak a word.
Du Yuefei buried his face in the palm of his hand. After a long while, he said, “The leader has changed.”
Luo Xin turned his head and left. “I’ll ask him.”
“Wait!” Hua Xiaoshuang stopped Luo Xin. “He doesn’t know that we’ve read the letter. After he wrote it, he hid it under his pillow.”
Angry, Luo Xin said, “I’ve wanted to ask him for a long time, but you’ve been standing in the way! You said you wanted to see what kind of demon he became. Now, we understand. Are you happy?”
Gu Mingxiao sighed. “Enough. It’s the leader’s idea, it’s not going to happen today. If we expose it early, will he not come up with something else?”
Du Yuefei stood in place, at a loss. “Should I still go to Wan Ai Valley?”
“Go,” Hua Xiaoshuang said, “Don’t you understand him? He sent all his people away. Besides making it easier for others to go up the mountain, isn’t it also a type of “kindness”? Isn’t he just trying to let us live new lives away from the Cult?” The word “kindness” was so harsh, he practically broke a mouthful of silver teeth.
Gu Mingxiao smiled bitterly. “Yes. Since he means this, it’s better to follow him and not let down his “kindness”.”
Luo Xin threw his sword to the ground and strode away.
That afternoon, Luo Xin and Du Yuefei went down the mountain.
Two days later, Han Changsheng summoned Hua Xiaoshuang.
“I want you to go down the mountain and do something for me.”
Hua Xiaoshuang expected it long ago and said with a smile, “What does the leader want?”
Han Changsheng said, “I looked at the Tianning Cult’s ledger. I didn’t expect that we had so little property. I plan to build a new palace and expand our cult. The money we have now is far from enough. You have the talent to accumulate wealth. I’ll send you down the mountain to rectify and develop our businesses unrelated to the sect. I’m going to triple the Tianning Cult, so you should find a way to triple the figures on our books.”
“That’s a lot of money,” Hua Xiaoshuang said. “What if I can’t do it?”
Han Changsheng said, “You’re so clever, how can there be things you can’t do?”
Hua Xiaoshuang furrowed his brows and whispered, “I’m so clever… but there are many things I can’t do.”
Han Changsheng was silent.
After a while, Hua Xiaoshuang laughed again. “I know. Since the leader has entrusted this task to me, I will try my best to accomplish it.”
Han Changsheng nodded. “Go down the mountain as soon as possible.”
Hua Xiaoshuang turned his head and walked out. After two steps, he suddenly stopped, turned his back to Han Changsheng, and murmured, “Is there anything in this world that the leader can’t do?”
Han Changsheng was stunned. “Maybe… I can’t fight the will of the heavens.”
Hua Xiaoshuang went out and ordered men and horses to go down the mountain.
Two days later, Han Changsheng called for Gu Mingxiao.
Han Changsheng said, “I know you always wanted to learn the art of controlling beasts. I know there is a strange beast island overseas, where there are all kinds of rare and exotic beasts you like…”
Before he finished speaking, Gu Mingxiao interrupted, “I prefer the leader to those exotic beasts.”
It startled Han Changsheng. Since he was a child, he harbored great jealousy for the cats that Gu Mingxiao was so fond of. If he had heard that a few years ago, he would have been very proud. But now he choked up.
Han Changsheng wrinkled his nose. “It’s okay if you want to go have a look. Pick some strange beasts and bring them back to Xiushan for breeding.”
Silence fell in the hall.
After a long time, Gu Mingxiao sighed and said in a soft voice, “I’m leaving too. There will be no one around the leader.”
Han Changsheng bit his lips and then said, “You can always come back.”
Gu Mingxiao looked into his eyes for a long time, remaining silent. Finally, he said, “I know. I’ll prepare to head down the mountain as soon as possible.”
Things went smoother than Han Changsheng had imagined. It didn’t take long for Gu Mingxiao to take some people away. So far, Han Changsheng sent away all the important people and the vast majority of Tianning Cult disciples for various reasons. Moreover, in the next three to five years, several groups of people would not return.
The afternoon Gu Mingxiao left, Han Changsheng returned to his room and took out the letter to Lu Honghua from under his pillow.
He never intended to send the letter, to let Lu Honghua bring the right way of the Wulin to destroy the Tianning Cult? What a joke! The right way of the Wulin would only have the chance during their daydreams and after their tenth lifetime, alright!
He had the selfish desire to let the cult preserve its strength. When he died, the followers would discover that the Tianning Cult had been sold out and come rushing back. The foundation was still there, the only loss would be the incompetent cult leader. When they elected a new leader and reorganized the Tianning Cult, An Yuan should have already passed his tribulation and returned to heaven.
When the hall leaders and the Dharma protectors saw his letter, they would think he was trying to subvert the Tianning Cult by fornicating with the right way of the Wulin. They would dispel their desire to avenge him, or they would believe that he wasn’t really dead and had just changed his identity and blended in right away… In short, all the debts were caused by him alone, and it was enough for him to bear it alone.
One day after January, Han Changsheng was sitting in the hall in a trance and suddenly saw someone running outside in a hurry.
“Leader, it’s not good. Someone who calls himself Huangfu broke into Xiushan without permission. He said he was looking for revenge against the leader. He already ran to the middle of the mountain! The subordinates can’t stop him!”
Han Changsheng took a gold mask from his seat and fastened it to his face. The mask covered half his face, making him look very charming. He heard the calmness in his own voice. “Is he here alone?”
The cult member panicked and said, “Yes, he has strong martial arts and the masters on the mountain are no longer…”
Han Changsheng said, “You go tell the one guarding the mountain that he doesn’t need to be stopped. Let him come up. The leader will teach him, directly.”
Han Changsheng personally instructed An Yuan’s swordsmanship. He knew An Yuan had outstanding talent. Now, his martial arts skills were no longer what they used to be, but Han Changsheng always blocked his chance to make a move. Now was his opportunity to show his skills. It was a pity that all those who could fight him in the cult had been dismissed for various reasons.
Before long, he saw the familiar figure walk into the hall with a blood-stained sword, taking one step after the next. He carried a light on his back, and the glow of the sunset behind him seemed to come from his body, as dazzling as the god of war in the sky.
“Why, you seduce my cult members to betray my teachings, and dare to climb my mountain just to die?”
An Yuan flicked his sword and said coldly, “Are you the leader of the Tianning Cult?”
“Yes.”
“Him, you killed him?”
“So what?”
An Yuan didn’t speak another word of nonsense and flew to attack Han Changsheng! What Han Changsheng held was not a sword, but a long knife. He held An Yuan’s sword, shook it open with his internal force, then counterattacked forward!
The blades collided with a burst of fierce sparks. Han Changsheng’s moves were obviously inferior, but his reaction speed was fast enough and his internal strength was powerful enough to suppress his opponent. For a while, the two fought equally.
The sword’s blade cut across Han Changsheng’s eyes, splitting a crack in his mask. However, he didn’t realize it, and just moved forward with the knife in his hand.
An Yuan avoided the blade, retreated two steps, then turned his body forward and pierced Han Changsheng’s abdomen with the sword. Han Changsheng leaned back, and the edge of An Yuan’s sword turned down, then passed in front of his nose. The crack on his mask split even more.
Han Changsheng flew up and kicked An Yuan’s wrist. An Yuan loosened his hand and held his sword in the air, forcing it against Han Changsheng’s heart. Han Changsheng’s blade smashed into his abdomen. It was the same move, but An Yuan gritted his teeth and didn’t hide.
Poof!
The sword pierced into Han Changsheng’s chest, but Han Changsheng released his knife before it hit An Yuan.
Han Changsheng slowly raised his hand and grabbed the sword in his heart. Instead of pulling it out, he thrust it inwards, as if trying to completely pierce his body. At the same time, the mask on his face completely shattered and fell to the ground.
An Yuan’s pupils shrank. “You…”
Blood flowed down the corners of Han Changsheng’s mouth. He put on a weak smile. “You have avenged.”
An Yuan swallowed, speechless. He just stared at Han Changsheng’s face. Suddenly, the sword in his hand began to shake.
Han Changsheng stepped forward, and the sword pierced his body. With the last of his strength, he completely plunged the sword into his chest and he came to An Yuan. He raised his bloody hand and gently stroked An Yuan’s face, revealing his last sad, beautiful smile to the world. “I hope you ascend soon.”
Bang! Dang!
An Yuan sat down on the ground, his beautiful face filled with an indescribable horror. He couldn’t help shaking his head and muttering, “It’s impossible… No… what are you…”
……
“I hope you, ascend soon….”
……
An Yuan looked at the man sitting in the hall with wonder. He ran all the way up and out of Xiushan and almost no one stopped him. He almost suspected that he had come to the wrong place. Why was the defense of the Tianning Cult, the number one demonic cult in the dignified world, so weak? But this was clearly Xiushan, right!
He went all the way to the main hall on the top of the mountain, completely unimpeded. When he stepped through the door, he saw a man with a golden half-mask sitting there. The man had his eyes closed, seeming to be asleep. He didn’t dare rush forward for a moment because it was all a bit strange. Maybe it was a game of catching turtles in a jar. There might be people waiting to ambush in the hall.
Suddenly, the man with the golden mask laughed. “I hope you… ascend soon…”
An Yuan’s expression suddenly became very alert and he grasped the handle on his sword tightly. Ascend soon? Was he cursing him to die early? Was there really an ambush in the hall?!
A moment later, the man in the golden mask’s eyes slowly opened.
